Local Area
Windermere is the most ideal location for a break in the Lake District because there is so much to see and do in the surrounding area including walks, shops, restaurants, guided tours, visitor attractions, golf and of course Lake Windermere, which is only a 10 minute walk from The Willowsmere. The spectacular viewpoint of Orrest Head is a must and this can be reached in just a 15 minute walk from The Willowsmere.

Walking
There are plenty of walking routes available within easy reach from The Willowsmere. These include walks in and around Windermere, plus Ambleside, Kentmere, Grasmere and Coniston which are all a short drive away.
Tours
There are a number of local tour operators who offer guided tours of the Lake District including Lakes Supertours and Mountain Goat Tours in Windermere. They will collect you from The Willowsmere.
Lake Cruises
Boat trips run from Bowness to Lakeside at Newby Bridge in the south and to Waterhead at Ambleside to the North. From Lakeside you can even take a train to Haverthwaite.
Golf
Windermere has one of the most scenic golf courses in the country. It is often referred to as a miniature Gleneagles. Over the past few years all of the greens have been rebuilt to USPGA specifications.
Attractions
There are a wealth of visitor attractions in and around Windermere and Bowness including Blackwell Arts & Crafts House, The World of Beatrix Potter, Aquairum of the Lakes and The Old Laundry Cinema.
